YouthTown is here!

The school bell rang at 8:50 and I could see everyone in mufti... apart from a few people. We looked at our whiteboard and figured out what group we were in, there were 4 groups, group A, B, C and D, I was in group C. All 4 groups started by playing octopus as if we were all in 1 group. We had 2 games of octopus and the first game about 6 taggers and the second game had about 8 taggers! After that, we had 4 activities, all the groups rotated. For lunch we had 2 free sausages and 1 free drink. After lunch, we continued with our other 2 activities. We all had so much fun and everything was free. I really enjoyed it!

You have told us what happened - but there isn't a lot of detail.  Try to add more so we can actually 'see' you there.  What did you like the most?  Mrs Simpson

D.A. (The) Burning Mud Pie!

D.A. Burning Mud Pie!

This procedure is easy to make and is only made for display. Please never try to create this!

Ingredients/Materials
-3 Fish eyeballs
-1 110cm eel
-1 Medium-sized slug
-2 Handball sized furballs
-200 Grams of snow
-2 Jellyfish
-1 Drop of lava
-150 Grams of worm guts
-500 Millilitres of expired milk
-750 Grams of mud

First, start by making the shape of a circular pie with the 750 grams of mud. Let it dry in the hot sun for 30 minutes. While it's drying, pour all the expired milk into a big bowl, then drop 100 millilitres of pen ink in with the milk. Mix very well. Drop the lava and snow into the mix, let it spread. Let the mix cool off for 10 minutes. Once it's cooled, put both jellyfish in the bowl. Grab all the eyeballs and squish them one by one above the bowl so that all the insides fall into the bowl. Take all the worm guts and sprinkle it into the bowl. Pour all the other 100 millilitres of pen ink into the mix. Place the furballs next to each other on top of the mix. Then lay the slug on top of the furballs. Twist and turn the eel so that it circles the slug. Finally Pour everything into the dry, solid mud!

Your masterpiece is complete! Don't enjoy!

Wow!  That sounds disgusting...  Your procedure is in order with great verbs telling us what to do.  Well done.  Mrs Simpson

Sailing at Bucklands Beach

On Monday week seven room 4 went sailing at Bucklands beach. We had a fantastic time and I loved it, I was splashing lots of people because they splashed me. The adults taught us about the boom and about not letting it hit you, after telling us about the boom they told us how to steer the sailing boat. They said it steered opposite to the way you turned it.

Adults telling us about the boats.

Then we all put a life jacket on and the adults  checked if they were tight enough.

Great start Jade - you are giving the reader information about the boats - well done.
Don't forget capitals...Mrs Simpson

The Fun Day At Sailing

On Monday weak 7 Room 4 went to Bucklands Beach to learn how to sail we had races water fight but i was cut my my friend  Jade using somethings on the boat so he send me to the one of the boat who was looking after us. when I got on the big boat. we started to splash water to other people which  was petty fun but i was throwed out of the boat and went I swimed back on the boat and i started doing it again and then i jumped of the boat. a few minutes past we went on a boat to ride on and some people saw a shark but no one died thats a good thing that no one died because we will be sad and then mother will be too.By the way there was  to boat one saw the shark and the other one did not.

Jing Long - you have great ideas here.   I like your information about the shark and how you would feel if someone was caught by it.
You now need to reread your work and figure out where the punctuation needs to go.  When you pause while reading- put in either a full stop or a comma.  Mrs Simpson

Sailing at Bucklands Beach

On Monday Room 4 went sailing. We went on the bus all of us just imagened how facinating or even great it would be on the bus everyone was looking out the windows and seeing all of the amazing veiws there were most of us who would of been just daydreaming out the window and finally we were at bucklands beach for sailing.Everyone quickly took of their shoes and gathered their gear and realised the we auctaully needed our shoes so we all had to rush to get our shoes back on not long after that we had to choose our partners and get our life jackets on then we finally started sailing a few hours or minuets later we had races. The races were a bit annoying because people kept bumping into each other and nearly knocked us off. then we had free time i think the free time was the best because we ridded on the speedboat as the speedboat got faster faster faster and faster it was like we were all gonna tip out of the boat but in the end we did we had to jump out of the boat and i think i swallowed a bit of salt water in my mouth it tasted like fish i was so gross after that we all had to hop out because it was time to go it was a really great experience i wish we could go there again next year!

Wow - you have a lot of information here Taylah.  Great.  However, you need to reread it to make sure you use the correct punctuation.  Try adding some of those similes and adjectives that I know you can do too!

Room 4 sailing and bucklands beach

On Monday at week 7 room 4 went sailing at Bucklands beach .To learn how to sail. They first showed  us like wut to do. After they were done showing us.We headed off into the ocean and sailed There. It didn't tip one of the leaders tipped some people  boat over so they had lifted it back up no wait WE had to lift it up -.- but i hoped one of the HUGE boats  AND OH NO me and some people SAW A SHARK good thing it wasn't near us or something bad could happen. After that we had a race it was soooo boring so i didn't do the race.when the race was finished we headed back to the sea it was a Extremely fun day.

teaching us

heading off
In the ocean .

I like your ideas about the boat and standing up, tipping out and what was fun or boring!
You need to have a good look at your use of full stops - only at the end of a sentence.  Don't forget spaces too.

ROOM 4'S AMAZING TIME WITH YOUTHTOWN

On Tuesday the 8th of December the Youthtown people came to HPS and we had to talk about whos in whos team A, B or C so we know where to go afterwards. When we finshed talking we played some games to get all of us warmed up.

We played Octopus, Mastertag and two more other games which we don't know what they're called. After that the morning tea bell rang and we had to go back and get our morning tea and Miss Dower said we only have 10 minutes. Once Morning Tea was done the handbell rang and WE WERE THE FIRST GROUP GOING SNORKLING!!! YAY.

After we did all the activities we sang a thank you sasa. I wonder if they will come next year!?!

Well Done Karen. The story was very interesting. The only thing you need to do is EDIT a bit more.

Fun With Youthtown

This year instead of the seniors going to Rainbows End at the end of the year, we had the awesome  Youthtown come in to play and have fun with us with some amazing and fun games and activities! My favourite activity was the blowkart because it was really fun building its tall (as a surprisingly tall stick) sail with all the poles. Youthtown was totally epic! So I hope they will come to HPS next year!
it's good but it would be even more amazing if you have lots of similes and adjectives Jennifer.

Having fun at cricket skills!

For 5 weeks Room 4 has been learning some amazing new cricket skills. We learnt how to play drop zone, cricket tower, diamond ball and stuck in the mud (cricket stile). Ethan the incredible intructor helped us to learn more about cricket. In this picture we are playing DROP ZONE!!! It is a really fun game to play. There is one ball but you can put two in if you want. You have two teams and one team has one half of the hall and the remaining team has the half that's left over. But you need to save some space in the middle of the hall that space is the dead zone if you go in there our if the ball lands in it your team loses a player. You can make up your own rules like you have to catch the ball with your bad hand, you Can have a team life, it has to be over a certain height. We had an awesome time doing cricket skills and we thank Ethan so much for helping us!

Chef's Special Pizza!!! A procedure...

This is how Room 4 made our special pizza:

'Mush, mush, eeooww!!!'
Room 4 started to create a delicious masterpiece for the whole family (or was it?).

First we had to collect the ingredients.
Collecting flowers...

Bringing in the water...

Making the mud...

Collecting the bark...

Handfuls of leaves...

Stinky food scraps...

One bowl had mud in it.  Jaxon poured the sand into this bowl and Gus then mixed the gooey, squishy mud with the gritty sand and it looked phenomenal!

After that the grass was added.

Next Jayden and Nate shredded the paper into the bowl and Karen combined it together.  The mixture was drying quite quickly so Karen found it hard to mix together.

Then we mixed the mud mixture with the broken up red leaves.  Jaxon said the mix was getting quite hard!

Leigh then mixed the remaining base ingredients together with his hands.  The water made it feel squishy and nice!  Leigh's hands were very dirty!

After that we tipped it out onto a sandy tray and Chloe kneaded it for 3 minutes.  She got all mucky!

Finally Chloe flattened it out into a pizza-shaped base.  Then we left it to dry in the blazing hot sun.
Once it was dry, the toppings were added.

First we added the nasty, smelly food scraps.  They were placed around the edge.

Then the sticks were placed vertically around the edges.

Sue then randomly placed the bark in the middle.

Bill, Alif, Anthony and others then picked the petals off the flowers and sprinkled them over the pizza.

Next the paper was shredded and put over the bark.

Finally Anthony and Gus put the grass over the pizza in a spiral pattern.
Then it was placed in the sun to dry.

Once it was finished, it looked like a pizza made straight from a garbage truck.  It was definitely the chef's special pizza!  Yum!

We had a lot of fun making it - don't try this at home!
